Find My iPhone

amariotti — Tue, 06/23/2009 - 09:17

Last night I started my 60-Day MobileMe Trial to help a family member decide if the iPhone is for him (more to come on this later). My original intentions were to test out the MobileMe Mail Push and after looking through that I just couldn't stop jumping to the different web apps on me.com. All in all I am really impressed with the engineers behind the web interface of me.com. If you've never seen it, I recommend starting your 60-Day Free Trial today.

Instead of focusing on all of the other bells and whistles I want to touch on one thing in this post: Find My iPhone. I've never lost my iPhone, aside from my two year-old taking it and hiding it. I'm not a big traveler either, but if I was then I'm sure that I would be a little nervous when it came to having an iPhone wherever I went.

So today I tested this thing out to see how accurate it was, and here are the results:

That's pretty stinkin' accurate if you ask me. I work at a semi-large college so finding it in the vacinity that it gave me might be a little difficult, but it works! The only gripe I have is that if the person that took the phone was familiar with the iPhone then they could easily turn on the Find My iPhone feature under the MobileMe account page. Let's just hope that if it ever happens (while I still have my 60-Day Trial) that the person is not that smart.

Way to go, Apple!
