Best Drupal Web Host?

amariotti — Mon, 07/14/2008 - 22:39

To end my drought I want talk a little bit about my web host that I've been using. I am by no means a "10 year" Drupal developer like some people that I've talked to. Any mention of Drupal 4.7 goes right over my head. I'm not ashamed of that. When I came into Drupal I was using a localhost so Web Hosting wasn't really ever an issue for me. I figured that eventually I would get to the point where I would have to worry about it, and that day came a little while ago.

When I was looking into a web host I looked just about everywhere, as should everyone else. I came across multiple posts on d.o about the best hosts, and who were the worst, but never really got sold on one. At one time I was looking for the cheapest, which I learned my lesson from, and then I started looking for quality.

I went from a client on GoDaddy (which was the slowest thing ever), to an account on HostMonster, and then finally to LiquidWeb. I came across LiquidWeb as a recommendation from a friend down the street that introduced me to Drupal. Frankly I had a hard time with their more expensive monthly fees than anything. After listening to him rave about them for a while I was sold. There were a few things that jumped out to me immediately: speed, service, and reliability.

I noticed huge performance increases when I used my LiquidWeb account and it was consistent. So far all of my support tickets have been resolved fairly quckly. I usually get a response within the hour that I submit the ticket. All have been handled well except for one that for some reason did a chown on my entire files directory :|. Of course the last thing that everyone asks is "what is their uptime?" Nowadays anything less than 99.9999999% is unacceptable. They all claim to beat it, and they probably do. Overall, I love my web host and will be sticking around for quite a while.
